Tazz Submits Chris Benoit in "I Quit Match" at "Wrestlemania 2"

"Wrestlemania" Archive

Tazz
and Chris Benoit joined DCW as a tag team. They even teamed up on the very first DCW pay-per-view event, which was called DCW: "Summerslam 1", where they faced off against Dark Astray Members Insanity and Dismembered. Tazz and Chris Benoit lost that night, and that's where tensions slowly began to build. It was Chris Benoit's goal to become the first ever DCW World Tag Team Champions down the road at DCW: "Wrestlemania 1", and yet again Tazz lost the match for the team.

Over time, Tazz and Chris Benoit both moved into singles action for a time, with Chris Benoit even facing off against Twitch in the DCW: "King of The Ring 1" Tournament Finals. However, Chris Benoit lost the match, with Twitch becoming the first ever "King of The Ring" winner.

As a reward for Chris Benoit making it to the finals in the King of The Ring tournament, a few months later at DCW: "Survivor Series 1" he was entered into a Triple Threat Match for the DCW World Heavyweight Championship against then-World Champion Desecrator and Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle. Unfortunately for Benoit, Desecrator pinned Kurt Angle for the victory. It was evident that Chris Benoit's frustrations were growing on screen.

Tazz and Chris Benoit decided to start their tag team up again after a long hiatus during untelevised house shows. Once again, the team's tensions began growing to the point where the team began beating each other up, and things quickly grew out of control, with Tazz even locking in a Tazz Mission on innocent fans. Tazz asked DCW owner Ryu Hayabusa for an I Quit Match against Chris Benoit at DCW: "Wrestlemania 2". That match was granted, and Tazz ended up submitting Chris Benoit with the Tazz Mission in under 7 minutes.
